Whether going on a family vacation or flying for a business trip, there are times when you have to travel without your pet. When this happens, it’s important to know your pet is taken care of in a safe, loving, and healthy environment. How to Board your Dog

If you’re new to Appletree, start by giving us a call to register your dog and schedule an appointment. On the phone, we’ll talk about your dog’s specific needs and make sure their vaccinations are up-to-date. Before staying with us, your dog will need to be current on rabies, distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations. If your dog is already current, you can either bring in a hard copy of their records on drop-off day or have your veterinarian fax them to us. If necessary, we can also administer our Bordetella vaccination on-site.

We provide complimentary dog food for all guests, and our chicken and rice blend was carefully chosen to agree with most stomachs. You’re also welcome to bring your dog’s own food by pre-packaging meals in plastic bags marked as morning or afternoon feedings. For canned wet food, pumpkin, or other food requiring refrigeration, simply let us know how much to serve your dog. We also provide guests with fleece pads, blankets, and raised beds during their stay. If your dog would be more comfortable in their own bed, consider bringing it if it’s machine washable.

Our Dog Lodge

When staying at Appletree, we prioritize health and comfortability. The lodge is thoroughly cleaned every morning starting at 6 AM, and all surfaces are disinfected and power washed. Following our rigorous morning routine, cleaning continues throughout the day with spot checks every half an hour. Much like a home, our entire indoor facility is heated during the winter and air conditioned during the summer. Each guest has plenty of room to stretch their legs, and we have two different sized kennels to fit your pet’s needs. For small or individually boarded dogs, our standard kennels start at 3 feet by 17 feet with designated halves for sleeping and play. For larger breeds, arthritic dogs, or house mates, we provide kennels that are twice the standard size.

The Cattery and Other Pets

Our cattery is attached to our groom shop, and we’d love to care for your cat while you travel. Start by registering your pet by phone and talking about your specific needs. Prior to boarding, we require all cats to be current with distemper and rabies vaccinations. Our cattery is equipped with dual and tri-level cat houses, and we provide complimentary fresh food, bedding, and litter each day. In addition to boarding cats and dogs, we also care for ferrets, rabbits, birds, and other small pets. Just give us a call and we’ll find a way to accommodate your pet!
